Billy Ray Hussey is part of a long line of amazing North Carolina potters and is best known for his whimsical figurative ceramics. Yet I'm slightly partial to his more objective forms he created down at Owen Studios, including this tiger-like swirl vase. With a repair at the opening and a couple of small nicks along the body, it still stands as an outstanding piece of Southern pottery.
